Ok - I said I would let you see pictures of the Knitcol scarf on the grow and, here it is. I have now begun the 2nd ball - I have made sure that I choose the shade at random - I have found they look best that way and can be worn with more outfits.

As well as this, I have this crochet blanket on the go - these are just a couple and, I mean a couple, of my UFO's (unfinished objects). One thing that upsets me ever so slightly is that I have a huge reputation for UFO's. Anyone else on the same page? Is it a well-known phenomenon/disease?

Anyone any ideas on the best way to tackle this problem? One at a time? A week on each one, a day on each one, a list?............

I just love colour and using it everywhere. My crochet squares are made from Woolcraft's beautiful Heritage double knitting (60% wool). Everything here is also available from my website - busybeewoolandcrafts.co.uk

Adriafil Knitcol

Just started this beautiful scarf last night - knitted with Adriafil Knitcol - called a Chevron scarf because of the unique pattern created.

Knits up really quickly on 4mm pins - double knitting pattern - watch it grow on here and on my facebook page - CraftyJacq's Craft Shop

Starting Over

Hello again everyone, here I am trying to link this blog to the shop so that I can write a wee log of all that is going on at CraftyJacq,s in Strathaven these days. First off, for those who don't already know it, the shop re-located in January of this year to Main Street. This move was inspired by the fact that the shop is now on 2 levels - downstairs, wool and haberdashery with jewellery-making supplies thrown in for good measure and upstairs a great big work-room housing all our fabric.

Loving the work-space! We are running classes for patch-work, quilting, knitting and crochet and future plans are for "Crafternoons" during the school holidays where for £5 a child, you and yours ( aged 5-?) can come along and experience a new craft like glass-painting, card-making, jewellery-making etc - bags of fun whilst spending quality time with the weans instead of trying desperately to keep them occupied at home since I am not sure we are going to get such great weather to have them go out to play :(

So, come visit this new blog regularly to hear all that going on at Crafty's this year xx

Handbags for Gladrags

Ok......... just wanted to post a picture of one of our gorgeous bags. I hope the picture does it justice. It is knitted in black felting wool mixed with a nice purple eyelash yarn. Then, buttons have been stitched all over as embellishments to add that wee funky touch.

I have seen customers knit this in loads of colours, black and red, brown and cream, brown and pink, you name it. The combinations are endless. You need, initially, 3 sets of needles at £3.99 a pair and, usually 5-6 balls of wool costing £2.70 a ball (from 1st March going up from £2.50). Patterns are free from the shop when you buy the wool. Posting a kit costs £3 UK.

Watch this space for more designs.

Hexipuffs

Hi everybody. Just discovered a new fun way to use up all your leftover sock wool - hexipuffs! They are wee puffy knitted hexagons knitted with 3 needles. They are really fun and quick little stash-busters. You could knit them, I suppose, with any weight of wool though I would knit them all with the same type; dk or 4ply etc.

The best thing aabout them is their portability - I can't go anywhere without my knitting so these can travel in your bag in a pencil-case or something like it annd can be worked away at whilst waiting at the dentist, on the train, bus or when you can't be bothered with a big, intricate job.

Post me for a copy of the pattern. I intend to use them to make  a cushion cover when I have enough - this could take a while.
